3. Calypso's Island

Eventually, the rest of Odysseus's crew got killed off, and he had to fend for himself. Odysseus was discovered by a nymph named Calypso, who fell in love with him and kept him on her island for 7 years. This man went from arrogant to depressed because Calypso would manipulate and force him to stay with her. He literally cried every day, wanting to go home to his family.

I would rate this experience a 2/10 because I'm not going to die, but I would be manipulated and stuck on an island for 7 years.

However, in real life, the area is beautiful. It's in Gozo, Malta, a small island. It reminded me of Sicily because of the clear water around the tiny island. Only around 30,000 people live on the island, so it felt like everybody had each other's back. The main thing that stuck out to me was the friendly and comforting environment. The people there were so kind that one little family asked me to join them for dinner. Mind you, I have never met these kind souls in my life.

Since it was on an island, seafood was quite popular there. However, if you've been reading my posts, seafood, and my stomach are enemies, so I decided to try the popular everyday food, Ħobż tal-Malti (Maltese bread). You might think this normal white bread, but the bread has an amazing texture and is very delicious. The bread has a crunchy crust with a soft inside and is normally topped with tomato paste, salt, pepper, and virgin olive oil drizzled on top. This might seem like a simple snack but the simplicity was the reason it tasted so good!

I asked the woman in the bakery if they hosted any food challenges, but unfortunately, she said no. However, she said if I could eat 30 slices of the bread in an hour, I could get it half off. Now, that's going to be a lot of carbohydrates. Honestly, the Maltese bread was so tasty, so it just cancels out! I realized that I was on a timer, so I started off slow and picked up the pace. Within 30 minutes, I ate 10 slices of bread. I was on a time crunch. In the end, I managed to finish all the slices of bread with 2 minutes left on the clock. The best part about this challenge is that I got a spot on the wall of fame next to Taylor Swift.

The main star of the show was the beautiful water there. To see all of it in its glory, I went parasailing. The weather was warm, and the breeze as I sailed felt great. Looking down and seeing the dark blue color of the water was something I could look at forever.

Ultimately, I would rate Gazo an 8 out of 10 because it just couldn't top how I felt in Sicily.
